Laboratory Tube Furnace (750oC – 1200oC)

For laboratory processes requiring the use of a tube furnace, Ants offers a variety of tube diameters and lengths to meet most heat processing requirements

Furnace design - The design of furnace body makes use of double skin construction that allows natural air convection to maintain a cool outer case for maximum operating safety and comfort. All models are supplied horizontally as standard, but vertical options are also available.

Furnace work tube - This range of furnaces has a maximum operating temperature of 1200°C. For operation at 1200°C work tube of 80% Alumina is recommended. For operation at 1100oC or less either 80% Alumina or fused quartz work tube is recommended.

Furnace heating technology - Heating is provided by all surrounding free radiating elements manufactured from original Swedish Kanthal high temperature resistance wire spirals supported on recrystallized Alumina tubes for optimum uniformity. Free radiating elements provide option of fast heating the furnace  upto 20oC/min.

In horizontal tube furnaces heating elements are not wound on work tube. This configuration allows easy replacement of work tube and higher continuous working temperature. Since the heated sample does not face the radiation directly from heating element, sample temperature is upto 20oC less than thermocouple temperature which shows temperature outside work tube.

In vertical tube furnace heating is provided by a resistance wire element wound on to the ceramic work tube which is an integral part of the furnace.

Furnace insulation - Low thermal mass insulation is used throughout for rapid response rates and maximum thermal efficiency and stability. A rugged metal sheathed thermocouple is protected from accidental damage and allows full use of the work tube bore. In furnace were work tube is integral part of furnace, a separate work tube is required when furnace is used with an   atmosphere or is likely to be contaminated by spillage. Tubes Insulating end plugs to minimise heat loss and thermal gradients is offered as standard.

Over-temperature protection – This option is recommended to protect valuable contents & for unattended operation.

Data logging and remote controlled controllers –  A range of sophisticated digital controllers, multi-segment programmers and data loggers is available. These can be fitted with RS232, RS485.

Optional fittings include:

  • A wide range of tubes
  • Gas tight end fittings for work in controlled atmospheres
  • For increased uniform temperature zone length, three zone versions are available
  • Vacuum pump and related accessories
  • R-Type thermocouple – this option upgrades the standard K Type (mineral insulated inside Inconel sheath) thermocouple to R-Type thermocouple and is recommended if furnaces is  going to be used continuously at 1200°C.
  • Over-temperature protection – This option is recommended to protect valuable contents & for    unattended operation.
  • Data logging and remote controlled controllers –  A range of sophisticated digital controllers, multi-segment programmers and data loggers is available. These can be fitted with RS232 and RS485.

High Temperature Tube Furnace (1200oC – 1600oC)

Furnace 1200oC – 1400oC

These models have a continuous operating temperature of 1350°C and 1400°C

Furnace design - The use of double skin construction allows natural air convection to maintain a cool outer case for maximum operating safety and comfort at highest temperatures of operation.

Furnace work tube - This range of furnaces has a maximum operating temperature of 1400°C. For operation at 1400°C and above work tube of 99.5% Alumina is recommended.

Furnace heating technology- Heating is provided by silicon carbide rod elements which are mounted   parallel to the work tube; the work tube must be ordered separately. These elements radiate heat directly onto the tube for rapid response rates. Low thermal mass insulation is used throughout for maximum thermal efficiency and stability.

Recrystallized / Reaction bonded SiC elements at optimum surface loading arranged in series parallel arrangement ensure long working life and are able to withstand the stresses of intermittent operation.

These units are fired using specially developed power supplies to take care of varying resistance of SiC. elements with time and temperature of operation. Over temperature protection is available as optional.

Horizontal models are supplied with the controls in the base, whilst vertical versions have a    separate console. Insulation plugs & radiation shields are provided as standard to prevent heat loss & improve uniformity.

Furnace 1400oC – 1600oC

These models have a continuous operating temperature of 1500°C and 1600°C. The furnaces are constructed using high grade insulation materials throughout for rapid response rates and maximum thermal efficiency and stability. Heating is provided by vertically suspended molybdenum disilicide elements.

The use of double skin construction allows natural air convection to maintain a cool outer case for maximum operating safety and comfort at highest temperatures of operation.

These units are fired using specially developed power supply to take care of varying resistance of molybdenum disilicide elements with time and temperature of operation. Over temperature protection is available as optional.

This range of furnaces has a maximum operating temperature of 1600°C. For operation at 1600°C and above work tube of 99.5% recrystallised Alumina is recommended.

Optional fittings include:

  • A wide range of tubes
  • Gas tight end fittings for work in controlled atmospheres
  • For increased uniform temperature zone length, three zone versions are available
  • Vacuum pump and related accessories
  • Over-temperature protection – this option is recommended to protect valuable content for   unattended operation.
